Narita and Haneda Airport Transfers: How to Get to Tokyo
Every way to get from Narita and Haneda airports into Tokyo, with 2026 fares, journey times and the best option for your hotel, your luggage and a late arrival.
Quick answer
- Haneda: closer and cheaper. The Keikyu train reaches Shinagawa in about 15 minutes for around 330 yen.
- Narita to Ueno: the Keisei Skyliner, about 40 minutes for 2,580 yen.
- Narita to Tokyo Station or Shinjuku: the Narita Express, or the TYO-NRT bus to Tokyo Station for 1,500 yen.
- Lots of luggage: the Airport Limousine Bus, which stops at many big hotels.
- Late at night: Haneda has late buses and fixed-fare taxis. Narita's last trains leave around 11pm.
Tokyo has two airports. Haneda sits in the city, only 15 to 30 minutes from most hotels. Narita is about 60 kilometres east, so the trip in takes an hour or more. Both are easy once you know which train or bus goes to your area.

Arriving late or very early

- Haneda has late night buses to Shinjuku and Ikebukuro for about 2,800 yen, plus fixed-fare taxis.
- Haneda taxi fares rise by about 15 to 20 percent between 10pm and 5am.
- If you land after midnight at Narita, an airport hotel can be cheaper and calmer than a long taxi ride.
Tips for a smooth arrival
- Buy or top up a Suica or PASMO card at the airport. It works on every train and bus in the city.
- Book the Skyliner or Narita Express online before you fly to skip the ticket queues.
- Use a luggage delivery counter in arrivals if you have big suitcases. Bags reach your hotel the next day for about 2,000 to 3,000 yen each.
- Rush hour, roughly 7:30 to 9:30am, is a hard time to take big bags on city trains. A bus or taxi is easier then.
- Check which terminal you land at. Each one has its own train station.
Our tip: Flying into Osaka instead? The Haruka express runs from Kansai Airport to Kyoto, and our itinerary maker adds the airport transfer for you.
